Frequently asked questions

Is the World of Hyatt Credit Card worth the $95 annual fee?

For most travelers who stay at Hyatt even once or twice a year, yes. The card includes a Category 1-4 free anniversary night that's worth roughly $150 to $400 depending on the property you redeem at, which already exceeds the fee. It also adds 5 elite-night credits toward Hyatt status and 4x earning at Hyatt properties.

Who shouldn't get the World of Hyatt card?

Skip it if you rarely stay at Hyatt or if your hotel travel is concentrated in markets without Hyatt properties (large parts of Europe, India, much of Africa). You'll get more value from a Hilton or Marriott cobrand, or from the Chase Sapphire Preferred whose points transfer to Hyatt 1:1.

How do you get the most value out of the anniversary free night?

Use it at a Category 4 property in a high-cash-price market: Andaz Maui, Park Hyatt Aviara, Alila Marea Beach. Those rooms regularly cost $400-plus per night in cash, against a fee of $95. Avoid burning it at a Category 1 airport Hyatt Place where the cash cost is $120.

Can the World of Hyatt card earn me Globalist status?

The card gives you 5 elite-night credits per year plus 2 credits for every $5,000 spent. It's a helpful boost, but you cannot reach Globalist (60 nights) purely through spend. Use the credits to bridge the gap when you're a few nights short at year end.
